Purpose of the Role
  • To ensure that Save the Children maintains a diverse and growing portfolio of funding from Institutional Partners for its work in India, and demonstrates consistently high standards in fundraising & management
Tasks and Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities
1. Resource Mobilisation
  • Maximize resource generation from institutional donors; achieve and exceed the financial/non-financial targets assigned for this role
  • Establish and manage existing alliances and partnerships, and explore new ones to increase the organization’s reach and the resources generated
  • Seek out Call for Proposals/ Funding Opportunities and ensure they are reviewed and meet the organization’s strategy
  • Explore new sources of funding with private trusts, foundations, public-private-partnerships etc.
2. Relationship Management
  • Establish and nurture relationships through regular meetings, visits, networking engagements with key institutional donors (EU, ECHO, DfID, US AID etc) thereby growing their funding portfolio with Save the Children
  • Engage periodically with Save the Children Member countries by organizing periodic calls, encourage and facilitate visits by Save the Children International colleagues to India, and any of their actual or potential donors
  • Rigorous project monitoring to oversee timely internal risk assessment/ management of existing grants- i.e. tracking expenditures under spends, processing timely requests.
  • Timely Income Calling.
3. Proposal, Concept Notes and Report Writing and Reviews
  • Produce consistently high quality concept notes and proposals that adhere to donor guidelines, in close
  • coordination with the program team at state or national level.
  • Review the donor narrative reports especially high risk, high value donors such as ECHO, EU, DFID to ensure quality and consistency of the language and high standard by ensuring sign off by the technical team. Ensure timely submission of all the donor reports.
Qualifications
  • Post-graduation in Social Work/relevant field.

 

Minimum Experience
  •  5- 7 years of experience in the relevant field – preferably development sector

Skills
  • High level skills in capacity building and team development
  • Sound knowledge and proven success with new business development, preferably involving past experience fundraising from institutions and/or corporates within the development sector
  • Excellent communication skills (written & oral)
  • An ability to absorb large amounts of information in short timeframes, identifying key issues, and recalling key details
  • Ability to construct and check a complex budget
  • Ability to work within and occasionally to lead a virtual team of staff of all levels, without necessarily holding any direct line management authority
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for major donors such as USAID, ECHO, EC, and DFID and skills to establish compliance systems with SC BR staff
  • Ability to construct insightful and well-presented MIS data, to allow senior decision makers an immediate picture around core business processes
  • Sound Knowledge of core IT applications
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles
  • Willing to travel
