iTeach Schools is a fast-growing TFI alumni led startup, focussed on providing a free, foundational and excellent education to secondary students. We currently operate 6 Grade VIII to Grade X schools, in a collaborative initiative with the PMC School Board and our funding partners. Our 6 schools serve close to 1100 students and 330 alumni.

The secondary grades are the last lap of intervention for these
students, and most probably the only chance we have left to level the playing field between them and their high income peers. In the academic year 2019-20, we are looking to start 2 more schools. As our network of schools grows, so does our student alumni! The Student Alumni wing will ensure that every student who graduates from an iTeach School- gets the academic, financial and social support to not only make it to college but through college as well.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Student Alumni Associate will join a key vertical of iTeach Schools – the one that ensures our students make it all the way through college towards a chosen, stable and safe employment. iTeach Schools has committed to supporting our students for 5 years post Grade X. The Student Alumni Associate will be play a pivotal role in providing this support. She/He will be a ‘Through College Advisor’ to a group of our alumni, providing them with one-on-one mentoring support. This support is aimed at enabling alumni to most effectively handle the academic, financial and social challenges of college life, thereby successfully completing their education towards an employment of their choice.
Additionally, the SAW associate will facilitate whole group sessions with alumni, designed to build essential 21st century skills and mindsets and make them more college and career ready. The associate will also design and pilot socio- emotional learning circles and programs with alumni to create a solid alumni led community of support for them.
Moreover, the associate will build partnerships with relevant
stakeholders to ensure our alumni body is well connected to a diverse network of external opportunities including scholarships, internships, volunteering, part-jobs and skill development courses.
 
Being a Through College Advisor:
 
• Providing one-one mentoring support to a group of alumni.
• Enabling alumni to most effectively handle the academic,
financial and social challenges of college life, thereby
successfully completing their education towards an employment
of their choice.
• Coaching alumni to strategically leverage their strengths and
work on their areas of development, so as to maximise their full
potential and enable them to achieve their personal vision.
 
Building College and Career Ready Alumni:
• Facilitate weekly whole group sessions with alumni, designed to build essential 21st century skills and mindsets and make them more college and career ready
• Design and pilot socio- emotional learning circles and programs with alumni to create a solid alumni led community of support for them.
• Build partnerships with relevant stakeholders to ensure our
alumni body is well connected to a diverse network of external
opportunities including scholarships, internships, volunteering,
part-jobs and skill development courses.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
Minimum Experience
  •   A  minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  •   Demonstrated success in investing stakeholders, success in project planning and execution.
     
Skills
 Competencies:
● Ability and affinity to work with a diverse set of student alumni,
invest them in the objectives of the program, set high
expectations and co-create individual goals, plans and support
systems
● Strong whole group facilitation skills
● An incredibly strong work ethic, willingness to learn and critical
reflection
● A drive to push for excellence in varied areas of focus
