Position Title: Head - Operations
Reports to: CEO – IFMR Rural Finance
Department: Operations
Job Objective
To formulate, gain agreement to and implement strategies, policies and procedures to ensure that each KGFS has the necessary Operations capability to realise its business plans in the short, medium and longer term. Ensure KGFS possesses the technical framework and operating systems necessary for its future growth and success.
Key Accountabilities
Operational Strategy
- To formulate, gain agreement and implement operational strategies, policies and procedures for KGFS.
- Reviews and analyse the present operation's process effectiveness and efficiencies and recommend appropriate changes to enhance the same.
Operations Organisation Structure
- Recommend, gain approval and implement the right organisation structure that would seek to continually improve the effectiveness and efficiencies in operations function.
- Ensures comprehensive utilisation of available technology capabilities, in order to facilitate the achievement of Operations objectives.
Operations Performance
- Lead the operation function and ensure operational efficiency is achieved in all KGFSs.
- Analyse operational performance of KGFS entities and enhance respective KGFS's performance to achieve defined objectives.
- Recommend, gain approval and implement operational strategies to penetrate new areas and expand existing ones for a wide range of financial services.
- Leads and directs effective use of good portfolio management.
- Ensure strict compliance of all products and processes and thereby ensuring adherence to operational systems and procedures.
Customer Focus
- Analyse customer needs and enhance operations team ability to consistently provide counselling to customers for investments.
- Sets and implements strategies and plans to enhance customer service.
Inventory and Cash Flow Management
- Accountable for the overall planning, implementation, and optimisation of cash flow in all KGFSs.
- Designs, gains approval and implements policies and procedures with regard to gold storage and other legal document storage.
Leadership
- Manages Operations team, providing inspiring leadership in recruiting, training, developing and motivating staff.
- Encourages teamwork and continuous improvement through the performance management process in-order that high performance standards and staff pride in the execution of tasks are achieved.
- Responsible for ensuring that all positions are adequately manned with qualified people.
Organisational Values and Mission
- Ensure inculcation of KGFS values and Mission to all operational associates, and making sure that the culture is instilled for all direct & indirect reports in the Operations Department.

- Efficient operation of all branches
- Planned business and budget targets are met
- Development of all Operations associates
- Turnover of staff in the Products & Processes team
- Compliance to all statutory and operational processes
Job Context
Head – Operations reports to the CEO of IFMR Rural Finance. The KGFS COOs refers to the Head - Operations on all issues affecting KGFS operations. The job holder is expected to lead and direct operation plans and initiatives that contribute to achievement of the overall organisation Mission.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- University degree in any discipline.
- MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualification in finance and accounting.
Minimum Experience
- Ten years' of work experience in management of public or private sector banks.
- Three years' general management experience with profit & loss accountability for an entire business or major business unit.
