Job Description (Research Associate - Epidemiology)
Technical involvement in epidemiological studies of data collected from the pilot sites, interpretation and analysis of data, identifying the need for data on existing or emerging public health issues, designing and implementing data collection whenever necessary, preparation of manuscripts and reports for publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
Assisting in designing, monitoring and evaluating preventable-promotive health care strategies.
An integral part of the core team of professionals that serves as the primary source for epidemiological expertise to the Centre and help identify the need for public health related community interventions that are relevant for the local population.
The position will be based out of Chennai but will require 10-20% travel, primarily in rural Tamil Nadu, India.
Skill Set/Educational Requirements
Preferably a Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or a related field and preferably some experience in research analysis (including graduate research) required
Knowledge of statistical software (SAS, STATA, Epi Info, etc.) and PC applications (e.g., MS Word and Excel)
Broad technical competence in health related research
Demonstrated ability to be part of development and implementation of new projects
Demonstrated analytical skills, and strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
